The Los Angeles Changers announced that JC Jackson had ankle surgery on Tuesday August 23rd. The recovery timeframe for the surgery is two to four weeks. The initial news of this ankle surgery definitely made chargers fans nervous as this came out of nowhere. He had not missed one practice prior to this week. It was reported Monday August 22nd that he was not seen on the field due to an undisclosed injury. This did not sound good as this could set the Los Angeles Chargers back for 2022. However, the setback for JC Jackson may not be that bad and could potentially make a comeback sooner than expected. It’s very possible that he could be available for the Week 1 matchup

Linsday Thiry of ESPN reported that the surgery was non-invasive and was to fix an issue that he was born with. Per the Athletic, Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Brandon Staley noted that there was no structural problem with his ankle. “It’s more of a comfort level when he will decelerate at times,” Staley said, via Daniel Popper of TheAthletic.com. “It’s just more about his peace of mind moving forward, to do it now. That’s what he wanted to do and we supported that.” Staley continued to emphasize that this was minor and shouldn’t be an issue that lingers on throughout the season.

This is great news considering the reaction to fans when the news first broke. JC Jackson let it be known via Instagram that this is just a “minor setback for a major comeback”. He is in good spirits and looks to get back on the field as soon as possible for the 2022 season.
