Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has always been an owner willing to give back to others, and his passion for Autism awareness is showing once again.
Luire has always been involved in helping with Autism research and spreading awareness of the disorder, as his brother, Peter, has it. That's what inspired Jeffrey Lurie to start the Eagles Autism Challenge, which is part of the Eagles Autism Foundation that raises funds for research. The Eagles Autism Challenge takes place every year, featuring a bike ride, a 5K run or walk, and a sensory walk to raise money for Autism research.
Lurie's burning passion is being taken to the next level with one of the biggest contributions ever made.
On Tuesday, Lurie announced that he was donating $50 million to establish the Lurie Autism Institute in collaboration with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine. According to the press release, the donation is considered "the largest single donation to U.S. academic medical centers focused on autism research across the lifespan."
“We established the Lurie Autism Institute to spark a new era of scientific discovery in autism. CHOP and Penn Medicine bring unmatched expertise and a proven record of innovation, and together, they have the tools to unlock answers that have eluded the field for far too long," Lurie said in a statement via Eagles Wire. "By investing in cutting-edge science and the infrastructure to move it forward, we’re aiming not just to understand autism more deeply—but to transform what’s possible for individuals and families worldwide.”

Lurie's new institution will focus on more in-depth research on Autism, including genetics and complex biological processes of the disorder, and studying the brain and language science. The goal is to make Philadelphia the global hub for Autism research.
This is a continuing journey for Lurie to give everything he can to contribute to Autism research. It's a massively generous donation that will advance research into the disorder, which has never been seen before.
Eagles fans can be proud of the work Lurie is putting in, and it is another shining example of why he is among the best owners, not only in the NFL, but in sports.
