Jeffrey Simmons, known by many Titans fans as Big Jeff, finally made his presence known at St. Thomas Sports Park. After missing OTAs, the veteran defensive lineman was present at mandatory minicamps. Many fans had been wondering where he was, and they finally got to see him on the field with the new players added this offseason. But something else was noticeably different for Jeffrey as well.
When he stepped on the practice field, Simmons looked lighter. He has dropped 20 pounds going into the 2025 season with Tennessee. Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson recognized he had lost weight, and he spoke about Jeffrey going into the offseason at minicamp when speaking to the media at minicamp:
"Jeff is coming back and he's trying to be the best version of himself. He's in great shape right now."

For Simmons, losing weight and being lighter could benefit him. Jeff was always quick and powerful, but with less weight, the quickness can be even better for Simmons. For a player who already gave fits to opposing offensive lines, that's even scarier to think about.
Along with potentially more explosiveness from Simmons, the lighter weight might also increase his endurance on the field. Simmons is always a player who is on the field for many of the plays. But with less weight, that could mean even more endurance and more energy on every play he is on the field.
Many Titans fans questioned why Simmons was not present at voluntary OTAs, but it is evident that he has been putting in the work off the field, taking care of his body. We currently don't know what the production is going to look like, but what we do know is that Simmons is doing everything he can to be in the best possible shape to produce on the field for a team that desperately needs him at his best up front.
