The Dallas Cowboys' struggles were on display before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline as they lost 27-17 at home to the Arizona Cardinals on "Monday Night Football" to drop to 3-5-1 on the season.
Defense has been the biggest issue all season for Dallas, who rank 31st in the NFL in total defense (397.4 yards per game) and scoring defense (30.8 points per game). They allowed 340 total yards and did not force a turnover against a Cardinals offense led by backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Before the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones teased that he had made a trade to "address some of the things that have been our shortcomings." When the details of the trade for Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson emerged on Tuesday, Jones took full responsibility for the desperate state of the franchise.
"I am supremely responsible for where we are right now," Jones told Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan. "There is no question about that. I accept that."
Since winning the Super Bowl in the 1995 season, the Cowboys have five playoff wins in 29 years and have failed to make a single NFC Championship Game.
Jones, 83, emphasized that he operates with "natural urgency" because of his age. He reaffirmed confidence he can make good decisions with an eye on a championship, no matter what talking heads thought of his trade for Wilson or his offseason move to deal Micah Parsons to the Packers.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan: "I have a natural urgency because of my age. My immediate tomorrows are a big thing to me. ... I'm satisfied that I can make good decisions. I've made some bad decisions, obviously, being trite. I am supremely responsible for where we are…

"For what we need right now, he can come in immediately and help us at linebacker," Jones said of Wilson.
Here are the details of the Cowboys' trade, as confirmed by Jones in his radio interview.
Wilson, 29, has two years left on his current four-year, $36 million contract. He surpassed 100 tackles in each of the past four seasons on an inconsistent Cincinnati defense, but was benched on Oct. 12 against the Packers for rookie linebacker Barrett Carter.
