Jerry Jones confident in Cowboys amid Dak Prescott MVP buzz

Dallas owner Jerry Jones believes the Cowboys can beat anyone thanks to the excellent play of quarterback Dak Prescott, who's generating more MVP buzz.

On Tuesday, Jones claimed if Prescott keeps thriving, he can lead the Cowboys (9-3) to victories over the San Francisco 49ers (9-3) and Philadelphia Eagles (10-2), propelling them to the top of the NFC.

"I will say this: we sure have the opportunity," Jones told KRLD-FM in Dallas. "We've got the talent, the way Dak is playing, and we got the opportunity to win any game we play against either of those teams."

In Week 5, the 49ers crushed the Cowboys 42-10, and Prescott threw three interceptions. Perhaps the embarrassing defeat served as fuel. Over his past seven games, the QB has completed 70.5 percent of his passes for 2,173 yards, 21 TDs, two picks and an above-average 121.5 passer rating.

As of Tuesday, oddschecker shows Prescott running nearly even with San Francisco's Brock Purdy and Philadelphia's Jalen Hurts in MVP odds.

On Sunday, the Cowboys host the Eagles in a pivotal matchup. Dallas would move into first in the NFC East with a win. A victory would also further Prescott's MVP case.

"Dallas could land the top spot in the conference if it beats the Eagles, wins out and gets the 49ers to slip up at least once before the end of the season," wrote ESPN's Bill Barnwell. "A division title and five more games at this level of play probably would be enough for Prescott to win MVP, but if he lands the top seed in the conference for the Cowboys for the first time since 2016? Get the hardware ready."
