In a rather shocking turn of events, the Dallas Cowboys' highly anticipated Sunday Night Football showdown with the Green Bay Packers ended up in a draw after their game extended to overtime.
The game featured seven straight lead-changing touchdowns, as both sides refused to give each other any momentum. When it looked like the Cowboys finally got a break with a George Pickens touchdown off a 28-yard pass from Dak Prescott for a 37-34 lead with under a minute remaining, the Packers clawed their way back and forced overtime.
Dallas and Green Bay ended up settling for a 40-40 draw after Brandon Aubrey and Brandon McManus traded field goals in overtime.
Cowboys QB Prescott finished with 319 yards and three touchdowns on 31-of-40 passing, while his Packers counterpart in Jordan Love also had three touchdowns off 337 passing yards and 31-of-43 completion.
While many viewers were disappointed and frustrated with the result of such a high-profile game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't seem to be too bothered by the result.
The Cowboys could have really used the win to improve their standing, but Jones appeared to be okay with the tie based on his comments postgame — during which he even mentioned former Dallas player Micah Parsons who was traded to the Packers prior to the 2025 season.
"They got Micah, and we've got what we got, and we tied," Jones said when asked about the first Cowboys-Packers game since the Parsons trade.
When further inquired on how he feels about the draw, Jones shared that, "I feel better than I could've felt, but worse than I could've felt as well." While a win would have definitely been ideal, the Cowboys owner and general manager could only accept the result.
"It would've been great to have gone ahead and complete that smile and not had that tie and had that win under all of the circumstances… I wanted to win that game tonight. And I didn't want to lose it," Jones added, via Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com.
Jones and the Cowboys know very well they can't focus too much on what could have been. Dallas plays the New York Jets next Sunday at MetLife Stadium, which is a big opportunity for America's Team to get back in the win column against a struggling squad.
