Jerry Jones makes clear: 'Dak is our quarterback'

Could the Cowboys be facing an unexpected quarterback controversy? There have been rumors floating around that Dallas may be open to moving on from Dak Prescott in favor of a quarterback who would cost much less, whether that be a current guy on their roster or someone they could add in the draft.

However, during an interview with 105.3 the Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team has no interest in moving on from Prescott, calling the question "crazy."

"Yes. You asked me if it's crazy to bring that idea up, and I'm answering you 'yes,'" Jones said. "We're playing games here, guys. But it's not the thing to be talking about at all. You know, Dak is our quarterback."

This is not a surprising answer from Jones, as the Dallas offense went from elite to average, at best, after losing Prescott for the season. The 27-year-old is set to become a free agent after the season but the Cowboys have been unable to get much traction in terms of signing Dak to a long-term deal, eventually signing him to a one year, $31.4 million deal during the offseason.

The Cowboys are among the worst teams in the league this season and look to be headed towards a high draft pick, which could put them in a position to grab a rookie gun-slinger like Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields. However, it sounds like Dallas is not interested in drafting a quarterback, so they could end up adding some much-needed talent to their defense or offensive line instead.
