Jerry Jones makes surprising admission about the Giants

Jerry Jones has tipped his proverbial cap toward the Dallas Cowboys’ division-rival New York Giants.

The Giants outclassed Jones’ Cowboys during their Week 1 clash at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Dallas managed to get within a touchdown in the fourth quarter but could not get the ball back late, resulting in a 28-20 win for New York.

Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan on Friday and spoke candidly about his team’s disappointing season opener. Rather than harp on his team’s poor play, the Cowboys owner praised the Giants for being “better” than he had anticipated. He even admitted he was nervous to see if New York would be able to keep it up for the rest of the season.

“They just did a good job all over,” Jones said, via Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. “And I will tell you, they were better than we thought they were. I’m anxious to see how New York continues to play, but I really — combination of things. We didn’t play as well as we should play and can play, but they played better than I thought they could.”

Jones also felt his Cowboys played worse than he had expected. He chalked it up tot he team dealing with a ton of coaching turnover and expects the team to take more time adjusting to the new schemes being implemented this season.

The Cowboys will get a chance to test their cohesion again as they host the Washington Commanders in a Week 2 clash at AT&T Stadium.
