Jerry Jones says Ben DiNucci starting for Cowboys was as bad as Kendall Hinton starting for Broncos

The Denver Broncos were put in a can't-win situation when all four of the quarterbacks on their roster were not allowed to play in Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, resulting in practice squad receiver Kendall Hinton playing quarterback.

Hinton completed a single pass in the loss, and many felt the NFL should have rescheduled the game to give the Broncos a chance to get at least one quarterback back. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was entirely unsympathetic to Denver's quarterback woes, saying his team was basically put in the same position when they were forced to start Ben DiNucci after losing Dak Prescott and Andy Dalton to injury.

"I don’t know that Denver had any more challenge than we did with (rookie seventh-rounder Ben) DiNucci or young quarterbacks we’ve had," Jones said during an interview on 105.3 the fan.

The Cowboys unquestionably faced a difficult stretch earlier in the season when they started four quarterbacks in five games, including seventh-round rookie DiNucci. However, it's hard to agree that this was the extent of desperation Denver reached on Sunday. Hinton had not played quarterback since Wake Forest, where he was the team's backup before switching to slot receiver.

The argument for the Cowboys being in a more difficult spot is the length of their quarterback debacle. After all, while the Broncos were put in a worse spot, they should have Drew Lock and at least two of his backups ready to go when they face the Chiefs this Sunday. The Cowboys, on the other hand, were forced to rely on their third- and fourth-string quarterbacks for several weeks while Dalton recovered from a concussion.
