There may not be a quarterback controversy in Dallas yet, but Cooper Rush is still impressing everybody with the way he has played in Dak Prescott's absence.
He also continues to impress the most important person -- and voice -- in the Cowboys organization: team owner Jerry Jones.
Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that Rush is not only playing as well as anybody could have expected but that he also has the makeup of a top quarterback.
Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that Cooper Rush has “the makeup of a top quarterback, adding, “let me say this he’s certainly playing as well as anybody could’ve expected.”

After Monday's 23-16 win over the New York Giants, the Cowboys are now 2-0 in Rush's starts this season as they continue to overcome the absence of their starting quarterback. He is not putting up huge numbers, but he has thrown two touchdowns and zero interceptions in his two starts and done enough to get the Cowboys a couple of big wins.
Despite the Cowboys' success, it is still some pretty bold praise for a 29-year-old quarterback that has only started three NFL games in six years, even if he has played extremely well in those three games.
Including his start a year ago Rush has completed over 62 percent of his passes for 938 yards, five touchdowns, and only one interception. The Cowboys are 3-0 in those games.
Prescott was injured in the Cowboys' season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was initially expected to miss six-to-eight weeks. But there is a chance he could return much sooner than, and perhaps even as soon as this Sunday for a huge NFC East showdown with the Washington Commanders.
Realistically speaking a healthy Prescott should not lose his job in Dallas, but if he does struggle even a little upon his return, there is going to be at least some noise for Rush to play over him. That is just how the business works, especially when you are talking about the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
