The Dallas Cowboys were once again left watching another team hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

This time, the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29–13 in Super Bowl LX in San Francisco.

That reality has brought fresh questions about where the Cowboys franchise stands and how it moves forward.

Jerry Jones, however, used the matchup as an example of how quickly fortunes can shift in today’s NFL.

His message to Cowboys fans focused on the belief that change can happen fast.

Jerry Jones says Cowboys can go ‘from a pumpkin to a carrot’ quickly

Jones pointed to how the Seahawks and Patriots reached the championship game as evidence of rapid turnarounds in the league.

“First of all, start with this Super Bowl. I would look at these teams. Look at New England. Look at Seattle,” he said.

“They’re made up for the team, first-year quarterbacks for the team, the system. The coaches are fresh on the scene.

“So the point is, in this day in the NFL, you can go from a pumpkin to a carrot, so to speak. And you can do it in a year, or you can do it in two years.

“That is very promising to me. I’ve been there. I understand how it’s done. I understand how it’s not done.”

Jones’ point was that new systems, top-class quarterbacks, and strong coaching can lead to unexpected success in a short time.

Jerry Jones says defensive changes are coming and looks ‘in the mirror’

At the same time, Jones conceded that adjustments are necessary if the Cowboys want to compete at the highest level.

“I do want to say that it’s highly competitive out here, as competitive as anything I’ve ever been involved in,” he added.

“But for instance, we’re redoing our defense, and I’ve changed so much about the approach that we’re going to have with coaching the defense.

“So kind of when you work for yourself, as I do, you have to change what’s in the mirror, so to speak.”

By referencing the mirror, Jones signaled that accountability starts with himself and the organization.

Defensive overhaul will be a major focus of the Cowboys’ offseason.
