Jerry Jones Shares Update on Cowboys' Rumored Interest in Trading for Maxx Crosby

With the Las Vegas Raiders coming into its Week 7 bye week with a 2-5 record, All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby has been at the center of trade rumors throughout the weeks. One team that has been linked to the four-time Pro Bowl selection are the Dallas Cowboys, who according to former ESPN personality, Trey Wingo, have inquired about his availability.

The move would make a bit of sense for the Cowboys who traded away an All-Pro pass rusher in Micah Parsons back in August, and have just one player with more than two sacks. However, it would certainly be a change of heart for the Raiders, who signed Crosby to a three-year, $106.5 million contract in March.

With fans around the NFL on high alert that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could be up to something with the trade deadline approaching, he chatted with The Athletic's Dianna Russini about the matter.

While Jones admitted that the Cowboys could be active in the trade market, he denied that the team has been making moves for Crosby.

"While the Cowboys have let teams know they’re open for business before the Nov. 4 trade deadline, Jerry Jones told me they never reached out to the Raiders about Maxx Crosby," wrote Russini.

Jones did reveal that the Cowboys need some help on defense, but it wouldn't be a pass rusher that they go after.

“I would say, without incriminating any area of it,” Jones said, “it would be a defensive player. But not a pass rusher.”

While he didn't specify, the Cowboys have struggled mightily in defending the pass. They have allowed a NFL-high 1,822 passing yards this season, giving up over 260 yards through the air per game. Not to mention, the team placed All-Pro corner Trevon Diggs on the IR on Saturday, meaning he will be out for at least the next four weeks.

With the trade deadline coming on Nov. 4 look for there to be plenty of big names around the NFL on struggling teams linked to just about everyone under the sun. For now, Crosby to Dallas doesn't seem to be on the table.
