Jerry Jones suggests Cowboys will take a look at Earl Thomas

Will Earl Thomas end up a Dallas Cowboy?

The safety was immediately linked to the team after being released by the Baltimore Ravens but a report surfaced saying that the team was not actually interested in pursuing Thomas. However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has stirred up the rumor mill by saying that he would be interested in Thomas visiting the team to see if it could be a good fit.

During an interview on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said that the Cowboys are "evaluating where we are on the roster" while leaving open the possibility of Earl joining the team. Typically, an owner showing interest in a player might not be seen as that significant but Jones isn't just the Cowboys owner, he's also the team's GM who has no problems making decisions that he believes are best for Dallas.

Thomas was cut by the Ravens after reportedly having issue with several teammates, culminating in him getting into a fight with defensive back Chuck Clark. While Thomas' best days may be behind him, he still can contribute to a number of teams, including the Cowboys. Thomas has been linked to Dallas since he was a member of the Seattle Seahawks, but so far, their hypothetical partnership has yet to become a reality.

A recent report seemed to shut down the notion of Thomas ever becoming a Cowboy, saying that the team was not among those expected to make a run at the safety. However, if Jones decides that he wants Thomas on the team, then all bets are off.
