Jerry Rice calls out Antonio Brown after release from Raiders
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The GOAT has spoken, and it’s time we all listen. Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice opened up on Monday about the short tenure of one Antonio Brown with the Oakland Raiders.

Rice is not buying Brown’s social media antics and attitude that led to his quick release from the Raiders on Saturday before the six-time Pro Bowler had played a single snap in the silver and black.

“We all got played. He contacted me, he told me he wanted play ball here in the Bay Area,” Rice said on 95.7 The Game in Northern California. “I bought into it because I can only take a man at his word, but I think this was already planned.”

Rice went on to compare Brown to Denzel Washington, noting that he won the Oscar for a performance that forced the Raiders’ hands this past weekend.

The former 49ers and Raiders receiver made news back March when he suggested that Brown take his talents to San Francisco. In turn, Brown created a social media stir by indicating that he’d like to play for the 49ers and work with Rice on the side.

That obviously never came to fruition. Instead, Brown lasted five full months in Oakland prior to being released on Saturday. He’s since signed with the defending champion New England Patriots.

It appears that Rice is having none of the antics that led to Brown’s premature departure from Oakland.
