The Kansas City Chiefs have made some new signings this past week as they've set their 53-man roster and practice squad for the 2024 season.
Running back Samaje Perine headlines the new additions signed by Kansas City since the conclusion of preseason. He should be an immediate contributor and a vital part of the Chiefs' third down offense. Other signings were for an eye toward the future. Here are the jersey numbers for the Chiefs' newest players.
Perine returns to the number 34, which he wore during his three-year tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals. Last year with the Denver Broncos he wore number 25.
The Chiefs acquired Hendershot in a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. He'll serve as the fourth tight end on the roster and could contribute on special teams this year. Perhaps the legendary No. 88 will give him a bit of a boost.
This was an underrated move by Chiefs GM Brett Veach, acquiring Thomas via trade from the Arizona Cardinals. Thomas could quickly become a key part of the Chiefs' pass rush rotation.
Zappe will spend the season on the practice squad baring an injury to either Patrick Mahomes or Carson Wentz. Zappe spent two years with the New England Patriots, starting eight games over that span.
The following Chiefs players have switched their jersey numbers from what they wore during the preseason:
Punter Matt Araiza (active roster)- #14
Running back Keaontay Ingram (practice squad)- #38
Defensive tackle Fabien Lovett (practice squad)- #96
You can check out the Chiefs' entire roster listed on their official website.
