Jets' 2025 Success 'All Hinges' On Justin Fields

For most, you only go as far as your quarterback can take you, and in 2025, the New York Jets have Justin Fields at the wheel as part of Aaron Glenn's new regime change.

With everything so far going smoothly, the Jets feel confident in what they are building this offseason, but the proof will be once the regular season gets rolling.

And that is where Justin Fields and his ability to be the quarterback Tanner Engstrand needs him to be will be put to the test.

Justin has a stout offensive line that can be leaned on, a good trio of running backs, and Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds, and Allen Lazard as his top three weapons. So there is a little bit to work with.

But for The Athletic's Jacob Robinson, will the Jets be better this year than they were last?

"Not sure," Robinson writes. "Leaning on a run game built behind an above-average offensive line and a defense that should bounce back under HC Aaron Glenn, the Jets should be better than 2024’s 5-12 record. How much better? That all hinges on (Justin) Fields."

Some think the Jets will struggle to find wins in 2025, while others, like Robinson, believe that more than five wins are achievable.

But, of course, it comes down to Fields and his ability to lead this offense and put up points. He was 4-2 as the starter with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season before seeing Russell Wilson take his role.

Now that he has a clean run with Tyrod Taylor as his backup, it is hoped that with Fields knowing this is his team, the pressure will be handled and the production will follow, and this Jets team can move forward with positivity and be somewhat successful.

How successful? Well, that all depends on Justin.
