The New York Jets' 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at MetLife Stadium was one filled with plenty of self-inflicted wounds.
Now at 4-11, while there were some positives, like a 99-yard touchdown drive on the Jets' opening possession, however, that was as good as it got for New York as the rhythm seemed to get zapped from the roster.
With yet another loss, and the same issues plaguing the team, quarterback Aaron Rodgers offered a brutal locker-room truth as the franchise moves forward to finish what has been a horror season.
“We're kind of past the 'keeping the positive' thing,” Rodgers said. “The most important thing now, it's not to change the reality of the situation being four and 11 out of the playoffs, going into an unknown offseason but you got to figure out what it means to be a professional, that's an important part of building culture. The last two weeks we can really see who's on board moving forward and who is ready to get out.
"It's interesting to watch the practice habits, preparation habits hopefully, we'll do the right thing. Everybody's watching and it's a who you know business so there'll be interesting conversations in the next couple weeks but just focus on the relationships that we have with each other and trying to finish this thing out like a pro.”
That seems to be a very pointed message and we aren't sure if it was aimed at anyone (hello, Mr. Wilson), but the next few weeks are going to make for interesting viewing from a Jets perspective.
With the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins remaining on the schedule, it won't get easier for the lowly Jets, and with all eyes on each player on the roster to see if they are in or out regarding the locker room chemistry, it has the potential to spiral out of control.
There have been hints of it, and the fact that Rodgers can now see who has mentally checked out and who hasn't, it doesn't seem like a good spot to be in.
