Jets add another big-time WR for Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers will have another big-time target in the New York Jets offense this season after the team agreed to terms with veteran free-agent wide receiver Mike Williams on Tuesday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Williams's deal with the Jets will be a one-year contract that could be worth as much as $15 million.

The Jets were the first team Williams visited this week after he was released from the Los Angeles Chargers.

He had additional visits scheduled with the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers, but neither will be happening due to his new contract.

Williams is a bit of a wild card for the Jets because he is coming off a torn ACL that limited him to just three games during the 2023 season.

That injury, combined with the fact he will be turning 30 in October, could be a red flag for what his expectations should be this season. When healthy Williams has been a productive wide receiver with two 1,000-yard seasons on his resume.

He joins a Jets offense that already has Garrett Wilson, Xavier Gipson and Allen Lazard on the roster.

With Rodgers set to return expectations are going to be high for the Jets as they try to rebound from a bitterly disappointing 2023 season. Rodgers' season-ending injury in the first game of the season threw a huge wrench into their plans and resulted in the offense taking a huge step backwards. His injury, however, was far from the only problem.

They also had major issues along the offensive line and with wide receiver depth.

They have worked to improve both areas this offseason. The Jets have already added offensive tackle Tyron Smith and guard John Simpson to help bolster the offensive line, and now Williams will add another key playmaker at the skill positions.
