Jets add Quarterback Brett Rypien, Waive Tim Boyle
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

No circus is complete without a carousel and the New York Jets have exactly that under center where the team has added quarterback Brett Rypien and cut ties with former Connecticut product Tim Boyle.

Brought in to be the backup quarterback due to his familiarity with Nate Hackett’s offense, Boyle will now look for work elsewhere as Rypien, a former Bronco, comes in to be the backup quarterback due to his familiarity with Nate Hackett’s offense.

This of course on the heels of Zach Wilson reportedly being hesitant to get back on the field if the team were to ask, despite the team claiming they’ve not yet asked as Saleh says he’s “not there yet” in deciding on who will start in this Sunday’s loss to the Texans.

A Boise State product, Rypien threw 90 touchdowns to 29 interceptions while completing 64% of his passes in college before landing in Denver with the Broncos.  In 10 career games (4 starts), Rypien has thrown 4 touchdowns to 9 interceptions with a 58% completion percentage.
