Jets Announce RB Move After Breece Hall News

The New York Jets are enduring another difficult start as they currently sit at 2-5 through seven weeks of the 2026 NFL season. The Jets have now lost back-to-back games, most recently to the Miami Dolphins, who were previously winless this year. Currently in third place in the AFC East, the Jets will face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday with a chance to get back in the win column.

The Jets’ offense has been unable to generate consistent production, and the team is averaging just 19.6 points per game, 27th in the NFL. Running back Breece Hall has missed four straight games with a quadriceps injury, but this has opened the door for Braelon Allen to take on a much larger role.

While the team would like to have both of its backs healthy, Allen has made the most of his increased workload. Allen has received 91 carries this season for 418 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 75 yards through the air.

Allen’s production has helped keep the Jets’ running attack afloat in Hall’s absence, but the possibility of both backs being available again for Week 8 could shift the workload distribution.

The Jets officially listed Hall as questionable on their final injury report because of the quad injury that has kept him out since Week 4. Allen, however, was a full participant in Thursday and Friday’s practices, and the Jets announced that he has no game-status designation ahead of Sunday’s game.

If Hall is able to return Sunday, the Jets will have to determine how to divide touches between the two backs. Allen has averaged just over 19 carries per game over the last three weeks and has recorded two 100-yard rushing performances. If Hall is able to play on Sunday, Allen’s recent production makes it difficult to justify immediately shrinking his role.

The Jets could opt to split the backfield touches if Hall is able to play, and that could be a wise decision to ease their veteran back into action after an extended absence.
