Jets Announce Unfortunate News on Wednesday

The New York Jets are navigating a difficult stretch as they try to rebuild after a disappointing 3-14 finish to the 2025 season under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn.

That record was the franchise’s worst since 2020 and followed a season in which the Jets’ offense ranked 29th in yards and points, struggled through multiple starting quarterbacks and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the 15th consecutive season.

In response, Glenn and the organization have overhauled the coaching staff, firing key assistants and coordinators in a sweeping reset aimed at reversing the team’s fortunes. Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand were among the casualties.

Amid that turmoil, the Jets delivered sad news on Wednesday, announcing the passing of Frank Ramos, the longtime head of the team’s public relations department, at the age of 87.

“We’re deeply saddened to announce the passing of Frank Ramos, 87, who was the head of our Public Relations department from 1963-2002. Sending our love and support to the Ramos family,” the team said in a statement.

Ramos was a fixture in the organization through its most historic moments, including Joe Namath’s guarantee and Super Bowl III victory and decades of Jets lore, and he never missed a game over a remarkable 681 straight appearances across regular season, postseason and preseason.

Ramos was widely praised by players, coaches and executives. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who interned in the Jets’ PR department in 1983, paid tribute to Ramos following the news.

“Frank Ramos was a Jets and NFL legend. In his nearly 40 years with the team, he was a trusted confidant of players, coaches, and executives — and he never missed a game,” Goodell said.
