Jets' Breece Hall reacts to sharing RB duties with Dalvin Cook

New York Jets second-year running back Breece Hall is publicly welcoming veteran Dalvin Cook to the team with open arms.

"...It’s another great guy we’re adding to the room," Hall said Tuesday about the Jets' acquisition of Cook, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "It’s going to be a good competition. It’s going to bring the best out of everybody."

NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero (h/t Grant Gordon) reported Monday night the Jets and Cook agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $8.6M. Such a deal suggests that Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl selection who rushed for over 1,100 yards across each of the past four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, will serve as New York's RB1 this fall.

As for Hall, Kevin Patra of the NFL's website noted that the 22-year-old who suffered a season-ending torn ACL last October was activated off the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said later in the day he's "very confident" Hall will be ready to play in the regular-season opener versus the division-rival Buffalo Bills on Sept. 11.

Hall understands his workload later this year with Cook on the active roster will differ from what he experienced as a rookie.

"When he comes in, all of our reps might get lessened and we’re gonna have to work him in so it’s gonna make us do the most of what we can with our reps," Hall continued about Cook. "It’s going to be fun. He’s gonna challenge us, we’re gonna challenge ourselves and we’re gonna challenge him as well, so it’s going to be fun."

For a piece published Monday night, Mike Vaccaro of the New York Post wrote that the Jets "have to win the Super Bowl" this coming February for their upcoming campaign to be considered a success after the club landed big names such as Cook and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, among others.

If the Jets achieve that goal, Hall likely won't mind if he finishes the regular season second on the team in rushing yards.
