Jets Coach Turns Heads With Claim About Aaron's Awful Offense

The New York Jets have struggled mightily to find ways to win games in 2024 regardless of who the coaching staff is.

At 3-7 with two different offensive coordinators and head coaches, the Jets have struggled to find continuity when it matters most this season. With new offensive play-caller Todd Downing taking over the reins, the numbers may show a team that is improving dramatically, which hasn't shown on the score sheet.

Nor in their 31-6 blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week, in which the Aaron Rodgers-led offense was awful.

Following the game, Downing believes that the Jets' issues have more to do with confidence and something that can change drastically in the last seven games of the regular season.

"I believe that you can talk yourself into success," Downing said in a rather head-turning claim. "We certainly have the talent. We just need to get out there and have the mindset that things will eventually go our way."

Since taking over play-calling duties after five games, Downing has actually gotten the Jets offense to improve in several different categories on the offensive end.

The issue, though, is something that has plagued the roster for many years now.

They simply can't find a way to score points consistently.

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made it clear the talent on the roster is good enough to record over 30 points per game on average like the elites across the rest of the league.

The problem is that whenever the Jets appear to move the football, they remain one of the most penalized teams in the league, and a breakdown from one or several players tanks the entire drive to begin with.

It's why while Downing can talk all he wants about the organization getting in the right mindset for Sunday's contest against the Indianapolis Colts, until they start putting up points consistently, the Jets will be hard to take seriously.
