Week 4 was supposed to be a very exciting week for the New York Giants. They were handing over the keys of the franchise to their new starting quarterback, Jaxson Dart, after benching Russell Wilson earlier this week.

But the excitement didn't last too long as the Giants suffered a crushing injury in the game. Superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers went down with what appeared to be a non-contact knee injury. The initial reports indicated it was feared to be a torn ACL, but the Giants await further testing to assess the damage.

In the meantime, the Giants are going to need to find a replacement wide receiver to fill out their depleted wide receiver room.

Lorenzo Reyna of ClutchPoints recently suggested the Giants could turn to the New York Jets to patch the hole left by Nabers. Reyna suggested that Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard could fit with the Giants after this injury.

Could Allen Lazard fit with the Giants after Malik Nabers' injury?

"Nabers left with what looks like a torn ACL. This leaves head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen scrambling for an emergency wide receiver amid the latest big NFL injury," Reyna wrote. "The list of available free agents are diluted. New York looks like it can swing for a swap ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline in November. There are intriguing names out there amid their own current situations — including one Super Bowl winner.

"Finally, the franchise can attempt to make a New York-New York deal in going after Allen Lazard. He’s in the final year of his own contract with the Jets. Lazard’s Jets experience has been subpar, so switching NY teams looks appealing."

For the Jets, trading Lazard makes plenty of sense. He's not getting much attention on offense. When everybody is healthy and active, Lazard has been left off the roster. If the Jets can clear his contract off their books and land a pick swap with the Giants, it would be a win.

The Giants need to add somebody to help Dart in his young NFL career. If they don't give him weapons to use, his career could get off to a rough start. Lazard isn't a superstar, but he's going to be quite affordable compared to other trade options.
