Jets HC Robert Saleh pays tribute to University of Virginia shooting victims

At his Friday news conference, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh paid tribute to the three University of Virginia football players who were shot and killed Sunday night.

"Lavel Davis Jr. D'Sean Perry. Devin Chandler," said Saleh, who wore a blue University of Virginia T-shirt. "On behalf of the Jets organization, we extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and the entire UVA community."

According to ESPN, per the players' friends and coaches, Davis had an unmatched work ethic. He was the first one in the door and last to leave. Perry was an accomplished artist, jokester and ringleader of any dance circle.

At a news conference earlier this week, Virginia head coach Tony Elliott called Perry "probably the most interesting man on the team." Chandler was described as a welcoming man with an infectious smile and a peculiar palette. He often enjoyed a cheeseburger and calamari combo.

"It's an absolute tragedy," Saleh said. "Hopefully one day, we can get all this nonsense fixed."

The suspect in the shooting was denied bond.
