Jets HC Robert Saleh won't commit to Zach Wilson as starter

After a dreadful performance by Zach Wilson on Sunday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said he was "keeping everything on the table" for starting QB.

"I'm going to get to the tape and just evaluate everything, and I'll leave it at that," the second-year head coach said at a news conference.

Should Wilson get yanked, the new starter could be Mike White, who was named backup ahead of Joe Flacco a few weeks ago. In five years in the NFL, White has played in only five games, starting three.

Saleh said problems for the Jets (6-4) went beyond the quarterback, but there is "an evaluation process to make sure we're doing what's best for the organization."

Saleh may be right, but Wilson's abysmal performance on Sunday (9-for-22 for 77 yards) was certainly a major issue. The second-year QB made things worse after the game when he took no accountability for the loss.

In seven games this season, Wilson has only thrown for 1,279 yards and four touchdown passes. His 55.6% completion percentage is the NFL's lowest

Subbing for an injured Wilson earlier this season, Flacco threw for 901 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in the three games. Flacco's stats are generally better, but his lack of mobility is a liability and his QBR (32.5) is even lower than Wilson's (45.2).

White threw for 405 yards and three touchdowns against the Super Bowl-bound Bengals last season, but he played poorly in his other appearances. In all, he had 953 passing yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2021.

On Sunday, the Jets host the Bears (3-8).
