Under the NFL's current rules, Saleh could still clear protocols and coach Sunday's game against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars, although the team would be in capable hands with Middleton at the helm given he spent the previous eight seasons as part of the Jags organization.
Saleh is the third NFL coach to enter the league's COVID protocol. Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski was just cleared on Wednesday after being in protocol and missing Monday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. New Orleans Saints coach Sean Peyton is currently going through his second stint on the COVID list.
