The New York Jets inactives are official for today’s Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans. New York will be without five players for the season opener, including running back Kene Nwangwu, edge rusher Joseph Ossai and cornerback D’Angelo Ponds.

New York Jets Inactive Players

  • RB Kene Nwangwu – Back
  • EDGE Joseph Ossai – Foot
  • CB D’Angelo Ponds – Calf
  • K Blake Grupe
  • LB Trevin Wallace

With Grupe inactive, Jason Sanders will handle the kicking duties against Tennessee. The Jets elevated Sanders from the practice squad on Saturday, and head coach Aaron Glenn had already indicated that Sanders would kick this week as the team continues to evaluate the position.

The Jets will also be without wide receiver Tim Patrick. He was placed on injured reserve on Saturday and will not be available for the season opener.

The absence of Ponds is worth watching in the secondary, while Ossai being unavailable takes another option out of the Jets edge-rushing rotation. Nwangwu’s back injury also leaves the Jets without one of their potential weapons in the return game.
