Kickoff is happening soon, and we now know the Jets inactives for the AFC East matchup against the New England Patriots. Once again, the offense will be without Breece Hall, Adonai Mitchell and Dylan Parham. That is not exactly ideal for a team trying to build on last week’s win over Cleveland and get back to .500.
According to the official New York Jets inactive report, six players will miss today’s game at Gillette Stadium. Hall’s absence means Braelon Allen will once again be counted on to carry the running game. Allen had his best game as a pro last week, and the Jets will need another strong performance against a tough Patriots defense.
The good news is that rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. is back after being activated from injured reserve. His return gives Geno Smith another weapon with Mitchell still sidelined. The Jets also elevated linebacker Jaden Keller from the practice squad. Getting Cooper back is a boost, but the offense still needs to be more aggressive and find ways to push the ball downfield.
Defensively, Joseph Ossai is inactive, putting additional pressure on the available defensive linemen. The Jets got after the quarterback against Cleveland, and David Bailey will look to keep that momentum going against Drake Maye. New England is getting some important players back, including receiver A.J. Brown, so Aaron Glenn’s defense will have its hands full.
The Jets enter the game at 2-3 with an opportunity to get back to .500. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET. Join the conversation in the Jets vs Patriots Official Game Day Thread in the JetNation forums.
