In a not-safe-for-work Instagram comment , New York Jets safety Jamal Adams has hinted his request for a new contract may end with him leaving the organization.
"Maybe it's time to move on!" Adams ended the comment posted on Thursday.
As ESPN's Rich Cimini explained, the two-time Pro Bowl safety who was First-Team All-Pro in 2019 is signed through the end of the 2021 campaign, but he's made his demands for a new deal known throughout the offseason.
In May, reports emerged that Adams and the Jets had hit a "stalemate" in negotiations.
Adams referenced the Carolina Panthers awarding running back Christian McCaffrey with a historic extension in his Instagram comment.
"Don't use the pandemic excuse. CM22 got paid not too long ago. Well deserved. Great friend of mine."
Cimini added that the Jets currently aren't shopping the 24-year-old, in part because the club holds his rights for at least another two seasons. New York could also look to retain Adams for a third year via a franchise or transition tag.
Adams could, however, force the Jets into a decision if he elects to hold out through the summer months.
