New York Jets veteran offensive tackle Morgan Moses revealed on Monday that the knee injury he initially suffered in Week 3 is actually a Grade 2 MCL tear with meniscus damage and a small bone fracture. Moses nevertheless played in New York's last four games even though he had to have his knee drained before the matchup at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 20.
During a chat with Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, Jets center Joe Tippmann called Moses "the best teammate" he's ever had.
"He’s a glue guy out there," Tippmann said about Moses. "He’s a guy that’s always pushing everybody. There are times in the game where he screams out [from pain] and you’re like, 'Hey, are you good?' And he’s like, 'I’m gonna keep [bleeping] going.' It’s really awesome to see, just his relentlessness."
Moses previously played for the Jets during the 2021 season but spent the following two campaigns with the Baltimore Ravens before New York brought him back this past March. To date, his top contribution this fall occurred when he spoke up at halftime of the club's home game against the Houston Texans on Halloween night. The Jets responded by claiming a 21-13 victory that improved them to 3-6 and ended what had been a frustrating five-game losing streak.
"The crazy thing is he never complained about it," Jets linebacker Quincy Williams added about Moses playing through the injury. "...Guys like that don’t really complain or talk about all the stuff they got going on. They just step out there on the field and give us their all on Sundays or Mondays or whenever we need them. When you know he’s sacrificing for the team, now I feel like I gotta go harder. He’s doing all this to get out there on the field, so now I owe him a little bit more, owe him another percentage."
#Jets OT has been sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber and rehabbing around the clock to get himself ready each week. Early last week, it didn’t seem he was going to be available against the #Texans. By game day, he’d worked his way back. https://t.co/hF8rynFHI5

Jets players lost a veteran locker-room voice when the club moved on from wide receiver Mike Williams ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. As much as Moses inspired his teammates at MetLife Stadium last Thursday, they may need to carry him to some wins beginning with Sunday's game at the 5-4 Arizona Cardinals to save what seemed to be a lost season for Gang Green less than a week ago.
As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the Jets as one-point underdogs against the Cardinals.
