Jets List RB Breece Hall with New Injury on Week's First Report

New York Jets' starting running back Breece Hall battled through a hamstring injury during practice last week. Now, he has an ankle issue.

Hall did not participate during Wednesday's practice in Florham Park, appearing on the official injury report with an ankle problem. He was one of five non-participants, a group that also included defensive end John Franklin-Myers and offensive guard Wes Schweitzer, as the team prepares to host the Houston Texans in Week 14.

Jets' head coach Robert Saleh did not mention Hall as an anticipated DNP during his pre-practice comments.

The Jets' RB1 played 46 of the offense's 68 snaps in a 13-8 home loss to Atlanta on December 3. Hall was unable to gain any traction in the run game, gaining 16 yards on 13 carries. He also caught six of nine targets for 29 yards receiving.

Veteran Dalvin Cook is directly behind Hall of the Jets' depth chart. The 28-year-old running back totaled 46 yards from scrimmage over 18 offensive snaps against the Falcons. Fifth-round rookie Israel Abanikanda rounds out the three-man active running back corps.

Hall, who has battled back from ACL surgery, has had a tough go of late. He has not rushed for more than 28 yards in any of his last four games. The 2022 second-round draft pick has finished under the 40-yard rushing mark in eight of 12 games. Hall has gone six games in a row without a touchdown on the ground.

The Texans will bring a fairly stout run defense to MetLife Stadium on December 10. They are limiting opposing ball carriers to 3.59 yards per rush, the third-lowest average in the NFL. The Jets (4-8) and the Texans (7-5) will kick off at 1:00 pm ET on Sunday in East Rutherford.
