Justin Fields time as the starting quarterback for the New York Jets may have come to an abrupt end Sunday.
After he led the Jets to just three points in the first half of New York's Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers, Fields found himself watching the second half from the sideline.
Fields was benched in favor of veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the second half. Fields completed just six-of-12 pass attempts for 46 yards and added 22 rushing yards on four carries.
It was clearly a message from head coach Aaron Glenn that Fields is not performing at the level that he believes he should be to help his team win.

After a lackluster performance last week against the Denver Broncos, Glenn was adamant that Fields was still his starter going forward.
That has obviously changed in quite a hurry, and it will now lead to an interesting week of conversation surrounding who will be the starter going forward.
New York travels to Cincinnati in Week 8 before a bye in Week 9. The bye week will be crucial for Glenn, Fields and Taylor as they'll more than likely determine who will be given the starting nod in the second half of the season.
