The New York Jets dropped to 0-5 on Sunday, losing to the Dallas Cowboys 37-22. It's a slow start for the Jets under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, who many hoped would bring stability to the franchise.
New York has a number of problems, but its defense has been especially poor. To start the season, the Jets are allowing 347.4 total yards per game and 31.4 points per game.
Considering Glenn is a defensive-minded head coach, spending 2021 to 2024 as the Detroit Lions' defensive coordinator, it's a troubling sign. They seemed destined to extend their already disappointing 14-year playoff drought.
One of their biggest concerns is a complete inability to create turnovers, recording zero through the first five games, which is an NFL record.
"The Jets become the first team in NFL history to have ZERO takeaways in the first five games of a season," wrote ESPN's Rich Cimini via an X post.

The Jets become the first team in NFL history to have ZERO takeaways in the first five games of a season.
That's a huge disappointment, considering that the Jets racked up 17 total takeaways in 2024 (2tied for 20th in the NFL) and 27 in 2023 (tied for eighth in the NFL).
To make matters worse, New York has continuously given the ball up, already throwing one interception and losing seven fumbles as a team. A negative eight turnover differential makes it that much harder to win games.
That means the Jets will still be looking for their first takeaway and win in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
