Jets’ Mike White Is 2nd NFL QB To Ever Accomplish This Feat
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets made a major change to their starting lineup ahead of their game against the Chicago Bears in Week 12. Head coach Robert Saleh decided it was the right time to bench quarterback Zach Wilson, deciding to go with Mike White instead.

Saleh was proven right in his decision by White, who had a big game against the Bears. He led the Jets to a dominant 31-10 victory, completing 22-of-28 pass attempts for 315 yards and three touchdowns.

That performance put White in some elite company. The last quarterback that had multiple games of least 300 yards and three touchdowns in their first four starts in the NFL was Patrick Mahomes.

In the process, he joined another group that Kurt Warner was in exclusively before White joined him Sunday. In addition to the 300+ yards and three touchdowns, White also completed 75+ percent of his passes.

When you are mentioned among a Hall of Famer such as Warner and one of the best quarterbacks currently in the NFL in Mahomes, you are doing something right. Week 12 was a nice change up for how things have been going for the Jets’ passing offense this season as White brings something to the table that Wilson has been lacking.

As Hall of Fame coach Bill Cowher put it, the locker room rallies behind and responds to White in a way that they didn’t seem to do with Wilson. In addition to that, White put up numbers we have never seen Wilson come close to yet in his career.

On the season Wilson has only four touchdown passes in seven games and is completing 55.6 percent of his passes. That just isn’t going to get the job done as Mike White provides the Jets a better chance at producing and winning games right now.
