Jets' Offense Leaning Toward Being One-Dimensional With Fields

The New York Jets' offense in 2025 with Tanner Engstrand and Justin Fields is a big unknown at this stage of the offseason.

Not many know exactly what we are going to get from Fields, who is likely on his last chance to prove he is an NFL starter, a receiver room that has just Garrett Wilson as the only go-to guy, and a run game that will be led by Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis.

Not to mention a solid starting five with the offensive line.

However, according to Pro Football Focus, which ranks all 32 teams' receiver rooms, the Jets might have inadvertently revealed their approach for 2025, coming in at No. 28.

"Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams were the only Jets receivers to record 64.0-plus PFF receiving grades last season, and Adams is no longer in the fold," Pro Football Focus writes. "Running back Breece Hall was great as a receiver in 2023 (88.9 PFF receiving grade with 591 receiving yards) but took a major step back in 2024. There isn't much else in the way of proven talent.

"The Jets don't seem like they will be a very pass-happy team this season."

With Josh Reynolds seen as the No. 2 receiver and Allen Lazard at No. 3, we get the sense that Aaron Glenn will want to run the ball down the throat of their opposition.

And this was solidified when the franchise drafted right tackle Armand Membou in the first round instead of a weapon for Fields. Of course, we could be wrong, but a receiver room featuring Wilson, Reynolds, and Lazard as the top three won't be part of an elite passing attack in 2025.

But a run game with a solid offensive line, Hall, Allen, and Davis, might be able to get something working.

New York, with the 28th-ranked receiver room, might not come as a surprise to many, but if the room stays as it is, the Jets will likely rely on grinding opponents into submission through the run game.

Do the Jets have the weaponry to do that? We're going to find out.
