Jets players share harsh truths about lengthy postseason drought

The New York Jets' 34-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday dropped them to 3-10 on the season and ensured that Gang Green reclaimed sole possession of the longest active postseason drought among the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and MLS at 15 years.

Following the defeat, multiple Jets players spoke honestly about what's become a tradition for the franchise.

Breece Hall may be ready to "to have a lot of fun" away from the Jets

"It's a yearly thing," running back Breece Hall said about the Jets missing the playoffs, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. "It definitely starts to weigh on you. You see your peers, and you see other guys that you know you're just as good as or better than, and they get to have a lot of fun."

Hall has featured only for the Jets since they selected him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and, thus, has never participated in a playoff game. He remains on track to reach free agency in March 2026, but the Jets could retain his rights via the franchise tag.

"With [first-year head coach Aaron Glenn], I see the vision, and I see how guys are trying to turn it around," Hall added. "We just have to be better as a team and execute what the coaches are coaching us to do."

Jets players seem to believe in Aaron Glenn

After the Jets earned a 27-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 30, veteran New York kicker Nick Folk insisted he believed there was "a lot of promise for the future of this organization." As disappointing as Sunday's result was, Folk echoed his previous take.

"You can build a house on a bad foundation, but it's not going to stand very long," Folk said on Sunday. "So, I think AG is trying to do the right thing and build a good foundation so that he can build something that's long-lasting."

There's no indication that either Glenn or first-year general manager Darren Mougey is in danger of being dismissed after the Jets acquired multiple assets for cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline. Ideally, such moves will allow players such as Hall and third-year center Joe Tippmann to represent the Jets in at least one playoff game sooner rather than later.

"It sucks," a frustrated Tippmann acknowledged after Sunday's loss. "[We've missed the playoffs] ever since I've been here, so it's something that we are constantly trying to fight and overcome. It sucks being in that situation again this year."

The Jets will now look to play the role of spoiler, beginning with a Dec. 14 matchup at the Jacksonville Jaguars (9-4). As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Jets as massive 12.5-point underdogs for that game.
