That makes it 14 years.
The New York Jets have now officially not made the playoffs for 14 straight seasons.
The final death knell for the team came in a crushing 32-26 loss in overtime to the Miami Dolphins in South Florida in a game that they seemed to control in the final seconds of regulation.
New York, after going 0-5 in games where Aaron Rodgers and the offense had the ball to go on a game-winning scoring drive, had reached deep in Miami Dolphins territory to ice the game for a makeable field goal in the closing seconds of the contest
In typical Jets fashion, though, that isn't what happened.
Tua Tagovailoa led Miami to a game-tying field goal drive in the closing seconds and scored on the opening possession in overtime to Tyreek Hill to give New York their 10th loss of the season and end any foolish hopes of the team finally finding a way to win a close game late.
New York had driven to the Dolphin 27-yard-line with 1:14 remaining in regulation. The Dolphins had all three timeouts, but if they could pick up an additional first down, the game would have been over.
Instead, the Jets lost yardage on a run and sack before finding Davante Adams who was pushed out of bounds to stop the clock and give Miami a chance to save their own season.
For Gang Green, it's their fourth-straight loss and will end any hope for a playoff spot while proving once again if there's a way to lose a contest, they sure as hell will try to find it.
