One of the biggest areas of concern for the New York Jets in 2024 was the offense, which finished the season ranked 24th in total yards per game (310.3) and tied for 24th in points per game (19.9).
However, there's hope those numbers could see improvement after the hiring of new head coach Aaron Glenn and the signing of quarterback Justin Fields ( two years, $40 million).
In an article for Bleacher Report, though, Alex Kay suggests that the Jets should continue to revamp the offense and trade for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
"In order to make life easier for marquee free-agent pickup Justin Fields, new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand should be pushing the club to make a run at Doubs," Kay wrote. "The wideout would be a strong fit across from talented No. 1 wideout Garrett Wilson."
Doubs just wrapped up his third season with the Packers, where he has proven to be a solid target, appearing in 43 games and accumulating 147 receptions, 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns.
A good chunk of those numbers did come in 2024, appearing in just 13 games with 12 starts, being targeted 72 times and hauling in 46 receptions for 601 yards and four touchdowns.
Those numbers stack up closer than Allen Lazard, who put up the second-best season for any Jets wide receiver returning from 2024, making 12 appearances with 37 receptions, 530 yards and six touchdowns.
However, one big piece in trading for Doubs is knowing that he's entering the final season of his rookie deal, so it's unclear if the Jets would be willing to pay a contract extension, which Spotrac predicts will reach $11.9 million annually.
