Jets QB Tyrod Taylor Announces His Good-News Justin Fields Plan

New York Jets veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor is no stranger to taking a back seat in his NFL career, and having been behind Aaron Rodgers last year, he will again be behind another quarterback in Justin Fields in 2025.

A well-traveled veteran, Taylor will be a sounding board for Fields as the former first-round pick looks to reignite his NFL career that has never really gotten off the ground.

The hope is that Fields can be unlocked in the Jets offense with his former Ohio State teammate, Garrett Wilson, riding shotgun.

And the good news? Taylor will be doing all he can to make sure Fields and the team are doing the best they can.

"We've been good friends throughout his time in the league as well," Taylor announced via ESPN's Rich Cimini. "So I'm here to support and help the team win in any form or fashion, whether it's me on the field or whether it's me being able to shed some light and experience and coach guys through, whether it's in the quarterback room or any other position. Any knowledge or experience that I could offer to the younger guys that helps the team win, at the end of the day, is what I'm here to do. I'm looking forward to doing that."

Taylor will be Fields' backup, but as we know in the NFL, it doesn't take much for things to unravel, and quickly, which is why Taylor is perhaps one of the better backups in football.

He can help steady the ship for a couple of games and keep the team afloat, and that is what Glenn will be counting on if things go south with Fields. Taylor is to be the guy he can lean on when things get tough, because they will at some point, right?

It is a new era for the Jets, and while the success the fan base craves likely won't arrive on the 2025 doorstep, it will be a significant step forward with Fields and Taylor going about steering this ship, along with Aaron Glenn, to calmer seas.
