Jets QB Zach Wilson Sends Major Message To New York Fans

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson sent a message to Jets fans following New York’s miserable Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, letting them know that the team is just as frustrated as they are about the team’s offense.

“I would hope they trust and believe in me, but my job as a quarterback is to 100 percent focus on how I can put this team in the best position possible,” Wilson said, via the Jets’ team website. “I want the Jets fans to obviously hang with us and believe in us, and I hope they know, as frustrated as they are, we’re even more frustrated.”

Wilson went 33-for-49 with 263 yards with two lost fumbles during the Jets’ 27-6 defeat at the hands of the Chargers in what was one of the club’s worst offensive performances of the season.

“I want them to know that I’m doing everything I absolutely can to be the best quarterback I can be, to help us get to the playoffs and more,” added Wilson. “That’s all I want them to know is we’re fighting. We’re fighting.”

The Jets fell to 4-4 with their Week 9 loss and sit one-and-a-half games behind the Miami Dolphins for first place in the AFC East. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for New York, who rebounded nicely after a 1-3 start to the season.

Wilson was pressed into starting duty back in Week 1 when prized offseason acquisition Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the Jets’ first offensive series.

In eight games and seven starts this season, the former No. 2 overall pick has thrown for 1,600 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 59.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 75.4.

Wilson has been a massive disappointment since being drafted by the Jets in 2021, going 11-18 in 29 starts and throwing 20 touchdowns and 23 picks.

There has been a growing belief that Rodgers could make his return some point this season, but he almost surely wouldn’t be ready until late December (if he ever is actually ready), and by that point, the Jets may already be out of playoff contention.

New York will take on the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.
