Jets rookie Garrett Wilson shows more leadership than Zach Wilson in brutal assessment of offense

A cursory look at the standings would suggest that the New York Jets are doing okay this season. At 6-4 they're certainly in the playoff hunt, at least.

However, being 6-4 in no way tells the story of the Jets after this past weekend's 10-3 loss to the New England Patriots. In fact, it would seem as if the Jets are on fire, and not in a good way.

Just ask rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who seems sick and tired of New York's impotent offense.

"This s*** is not ok. Straight up, it is not ok," Wilson ranted after the Jets put up an abysmal 103 yards of total offense against the Patriots. "That s*** is not going to fly. We got the dudes. It’s time to be consistent. It’s time to win the games we should win.”

That's just one of a series of tweets from Mike Giardi detailing Wilson's frustration.

"I'm gonna call it like it is. We gotta get better in the passing game if we wanna be at where we wanna be at. We know we can be there. That's the most frustrating part. We ain't gotta be in the games like this. They didn't even score on offense & we lost the game," Wilson continued.

The rookie wideout's thoughts on New York's offensive performance were in stark contrast to the other Wilson on the Jets, 2021's No. 2 overall pick, quarterback Zach Wilson. The second-season quarterback was asked by the media if he felt New York's offense let the defense down against New England. Keep in mind, as Garret Wilson alluded to, the Patriots didn't score on offense against the Jets. Their only touchdown was a last-minute punt return.

Perhaps Garret Wilson was thinking about his quarterback's answer to that question when he went off on the offense. Perhaps not, but it's clear that he felt someone needed to call the unit out.

"We out there looking sorry, man. We know that we're not sorry. So that's why it really hurts. We know we're better than that...we can do more," the wide receiver also said.

It's a shame for the Jets that it's the rookie wideout, and not the quarterback, who is willing to speak the truth after a tough loss.
