Former Cleveland Browns DT Perrion Winfrey might be getting a second chance to revive his NFL career.

Winfrey, a 2022 fourth-round pick who was released by the Browns in July after a robbery incident, tried out Monday with the Jets, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. The Jets, however, have yet to take any further action with him and it’s unknown if he’ll be signed at this time.

Winfrey was waived by the Browns three days prior to the beginning of training camp after he was listed as a suspect in an aggravated robbery incident, which also led to him receiving a two-game suspension from the NFL. Winfrey served the suspension at the beginning of the season even though he wasn’t on an NFL roster.

Winfrey was also arrested in Harris County, Texas, in a separate incident in April for a misdemeanor assault charge, which was dropped.

Winfrey was drafted by the Browns with the 108th overall pick in the 2022 draft. He was a well-regarded draft prospect coming out of Oklahoma, with some analysts pegging him with a second-round grade.

He played 13 games his rookie season and tallied 22 tackles, a half sack and two pass breakups. Winfrey, though, was also suspended by the Browns for the second game of the season for undisclosed disciplinary reasons.

Winfrey was expected to compete for a bigger role in the Browns’ defensive interior rotation prior to his second season, but the team moved on from him after his second legal incident of the offseason.
