This offseason, the New York Jets have moved in silence under Aaron Glenn, and make no mistake about it, that's by design.
After the Aaron Rodgers era was, shall we say, rather noisy with headlines coming out every day, and distractions left, right, and center, now, under Glenn, football is all we are talking about with the Jets.
There is a total buy-in to what Glenn and his coaching staff are doing; there's no noise, no distractions, no nothing, just football. And for Tyrod Taylor, comparing this offseason to last year, yeah, things are a little more settled.
“I guess you could say it's been quieter,” Taylor said. “I honestly don't look at it from that perspective. I focus on the guys in the locker room, it's about what we do day in and day out. I like the fact that we had just about 100% participant in our spring session. Guys have come with the great attitude, working, no complaining, guys are bought in.
We're giving ourselves the best chance to go out and be successful. Right now, it's about stacking days in training camp and being better right now. As far as outside noise, no disrespect, the outside noise, we can't control that. What we control is how we perform day in and day out and how we get better with one another.”
The culture that Glenn is building is noticeable, so too is the dynamic shift within the football team; they want to be a group, not sections of a locker room, and there's no doubt there is a total buy-in from everyone.
Not many are expecting big things from Glenn's team in 2025, but with a quieter offseason, the franchise has been able to go about their business in the shadows, not see it play out on the front page of every news outlet.
Change has come to New York. You hear that? Me neither.
Silence is golden.
