Jets WR feels he maximized offseason with Aaron Rodgers

Garrett Wilson believes he's forming a rapport with new quarterback Aaron Rodgers, which could help the Jets wideout raise his game after he flashed monumental potential during his rookie season.

"It was awesome to be able to throw with him [this offseason]," Wilson recently said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "We're going to try to build upon that. We have a small sample size, but we took full advantage of the time we had together."

Wilson continuing to grow into a premier WR and forming a tight bond with Rodgers is vital for New York. Rodgers recently had some praise for the 22-year-old.

"There's another 17 [Davante Adams] I played with for a long time who does it better than anybody," Rodgers said during a May appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show." "The explosiveness, the in and out of breaks to the 17 here [Wilson] is pretty similar."

Rodgers and Adams played together in Green Bay from 2014-22. They connected on 69 TDs in 108 games. The QB won two MVPs during this timeframe, illustrating how he flourishes with an elite WR.

Wilson has a long way to go before he's in the same class as Adams, a six-time Pro Bowler. Yet the comparison isn't unfounded. He won 2022 Offensive Rookie of The Year with 83 receptions for 1,103 yards and four TDs in 17 games.

Also, New York's QB play wasn't stellar. The Jets primary starter, Zach Wilson, threw more interceptions (seven) than TDs (six) and completed 54.5 percent of his passes, the worst in the league via Pro Football Reference.

Although Rodgers is 39, he completed 64.6 percent of his attempts and tossed 26 TDs, meaning he still has some juice.

If Wilson and Rodgers form a tandem, it could solve the Jets' offensive woes and help them become a potential playoff team.
