This seems to be the case every season, but the Los Angeles Chargers have been ravaged by injuries in 2025. In Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders, star pass rusher Khalil Mack hurt his elbow, which led to him getting placed on Injured Reserve.
The Chargers have been able to stay afloat and are tied at seventh in the NFL with 16 sacks on the season. However, Mack is still a major impact player despite his age. Luckily for Los Angeles, it sounds like he's nearing his return.
Mack has missed the last four games for the Chargers, but shouldn't be out for much longer. Head coach Jim Harbaugh announced on Wednesday that Mack is returning to practice. His window to come back from the Injured Reserve is now open.
This means he either has to be activated to the active roster in the next 21 days or his season will be over. The fact that he's back at practice is a good sign that he'll be back on the field for the Chargers soon.
This week might be a bit of a stretch, but he's on the right track. Mack has been a force for the Chargers since joining the team in 2022. He's made three straight Pro Bowls and only missed one game prior to this season.
The Chargers still have their eyes on the AFC West title, so they'll need Mack at his best if that is going to happen.
