Jim Harbaugh's Chargers create an extra opportunity to get better before their actual season begins

The Los Angeles Chargers won't lack any sort of effort under Jim Harbaugh. The veteran coach's team will put some of their talent and depth to the test when they experience some joint practice time alongside an NFC foe this year. 

Chargers to hold joint practices with Saints

According to Saints insider Nick Underhill, the Chargers are expected to conduct joint practices with the New Orleans Saints once again. Then, the two teams will face each other in the preseason.

The Saints and Chargers are expected to conduct joint practices in Los Angeles ahead of their preseason game, according to sources.

New Orleans and the Chargers have practiced together several other times, over multiple coaching staffs, and will likely continue the tradition this year. -- Nick Underhill

The Saints will have to travel to SoFi Stadium for that matchup, so LA does get to host them for part of a full week. The two squads do not play versus each other during the regular season. 

The Chargers conducted joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024 as a part of their training camp process.

New Orleans traveled to joint practices with the Chargers in 2023. Los Angeles has played host for the Saints on multiple occasions, and both teams have benefitted with the extra work against non-teammates. The two teams faced off in the preseason in 2023 as well. 

California remains a popular candidate for teams to travel to for joint practices or extra workouts as the offseason unfolds around the NFL. 

For the Chargers, this will give them new opportunities to try out some different looks on different plays and see if any "roster bubble" players stand out to HC Jim Harbaugh and the rest of his coaching staff.
