A split between quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the Las Vegas Raiders seems imminent.
"I just want to get back to playing, honestly," he said Monday, via ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "That's why I play this game. I love to win. Honestly, what I think I'm here for is just to go out there and get wins. As a football player, it's something you've got to embrace."
Garoppolo — who signed a three-year, $72.75M deal in March — underperformed in seven games, throwing more interceptions (nine) than TDs (seven). Rookie Aidan O'Connell replaced him in Week 9 and never relinquished the starting job. He threw eight TDs and no picks over his last four games.

O'Connell will probably be the Raiders starter in 2024. Jimmy G acknowledged he's unsure if he'll remain with the organization, especially if it hires a new general manager and head coach.
"I'm pretty open," Garoppolo said. "A lot of things are out of my control. I've been in situations like that before, so I've learned, just got to roll with the punches a little bit and whatever happens, I think it all happens for a reason. Just got to make the best of your situation."
A trade seems unfeasible. The 32-year-old is injury-prone, missing 31 games since 2018. Teams won't be interested in an expensive player with durability questions.
The Raiders should release Garoppolo with a post-Jun. 1 designation to divide cap hits over the next two seasons and clear some room. Per Over The Cap, it will incur $15.51M in dead money but save $13M in cap room.
It's unclear whether another team would sign him. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently floated a reunion with the New England Patriots if Bill Belichick remains HC, but that's unlikely.
