J.J. Watt is set to hit free agency for the first time in his career and he is already generating a ton of interest from teams who are hoping to land the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
ESPN's Dianna Russini reported that multiple teams have already fielded offers to the former Texans pass-rusher, with at least one offer potentially being worth around $15-16 million per year. Watt was set to earn $17.5 million with Houston this season, so he would only be taking a slight pay cut while potentially getting to play for a contender.
It was not reported which teams had actually made Watt an offer but plenty of teams have already been linked to the five-time All-Pro, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans.
Of course, free agency does not actually start until March 17 so any offers being made can't be officially signed or agreed upon until then. But multiple teams already making offers has made it clear that the 31-year-old is still an extremely desirable asset, even if his days as the best defender in the league may be behind him.
Watt spent the first decade of his career in Houston, establishing himself as one of the most dominant pass-rushers in NFL history. After the Texans' disappointing performance last year, Watt asked to be released and the team granted his request.
