Former NFL star and now Burnley F.C. co-owner Justin James Watt, or just J.J. Watt, recently spoke about VAR. And his opinion is forceful.
"I know I'm not the only one frustrated by this. I know I'm not," Watt said on Men In Blazers' "99 Days Out LIVE from Houston."
"And I… There are similar things in the NFL, and they're trying to speed it up, and they're trying to find ways, but the whole point of this entire thing at the very beginning of it was for them to be able to clear up clear and obvious errors," he added.
"It was not for us to be finding toenails that are offside by three centimeters. It was not for us to be trying to decide with a microscope whether this was off his hand or off his hip. It was clear and obvious. So in my personal opinion, if you turn on that tape and it's not clear in 60 seconds, leave the on-field decision as it stands."
These comments come days after Burnley lost 3-4 to Brentford on Feb. 28, in a match in which the referee disallowed two goals for Watt's team.
The Clarets are currently in relegation places, in 19th position with only 19 points after 29 matches, and a record of four wins, seven draws, and 19 losses.
Watt and his wife became minority investors in Burnley on May 1, 2023, after the club achieved promotion from the EFL Championship to the Premier League for the 2023/24 season.
Watt participated as a guest player for Burnley in the 2024 TST 7-on-7 soccer tournament.
